Towards sustainable mobility: Investigating alternative vehicle technologies
In this PhD project, the successful candidate would explore cost-optimal pathways of sustainable mobility and their interaction with the power sector. The first focus is the light duty vehicle sector. Several alternative vehicle technologies and innovation could enable GHG reductions, e.g. battery electric vehicles, synthetic (bio-)fuels, hydrogen cars, or autonomous driving. From a whole-system perspectives, these options need to be analysed within a holistic environmental impact assessment via life-cycle analyses and under consideration of interactions with the power sector (e.g. increasing electricity demand).
