Policies for enabling a low-carbon power system transformation

Transforming the power sector is central to the Australian transition to a low carbon energy future, and technology has now progressed to enable high shares of renewable energy. Regulatory and behavioural rather than technological barriers are now emerging as the main barriers to energy transitions and will be the focus of the activities in this module. In this PhD project, the successful candidate investigates how a suitable market design, wider regulatory settings for markets and networks, and technology support instruments will need to be adapted to facilitate and manage energy transitions, also including broadening to and coupling with other sectors (transportation, heating/cooling and power-to-X).
